VINCE CARUSO

Harrison Harvest-Vince Caruso

Meet Vince, Chelle, CJ, Cicely, and Jesse. Their family has owned and operated restaurants for over 25 years and are aware of the role that food plays in people's lives. Great food is their passion, and they're very committed to doing their part in taking care of the Earth. The new trend of locally sourced food has always made sense to them. Fresher food means higher nutrient content, which not only tastes better, it creates better health for your body. Over the years, they have seen the limited supply and low-quality greens available in North Idaho first-hand. Living in a predominately cold climate with a short growing season makes buying produce from large farms in other states and countries necessary. Their family has always loved gardening and values the benefits of fresh greens. Vince was interested in hydroponic gardening due to the low impact that it has on the earth and when he found the Freight Farm concept, he fell in love.

After a five-year courtship, he jumped in and "bought the farm." Vince and his family do all that is needed including farming, product delivery, brand management, and more as Harrison Harvest is truly a family operation. Nowadays, they sell greens to the restaurants they used to own and their neighbors. Getting fresh greens to our community is a labor of love; they enjoy every minute.

Nikki Conley

Athol Orchards-Nikki Conley

Nikki Conley, along with her husband Erreck and two daughters, Mackenzie and Madelyn, established Athol Orchards Antique Apple Farm in the Autumn of 2016.

Athol Orchards hosts several workshops offered through their “Orchard School” program throughout the seasons. These workshops allow local aspiring homesteaders to gain the knowledge and experience needed to establish their own orchards in a self-sustaining, holistic way. The orchard is now home to over 120 rare and historically significant apple varieties and the list is growing. It doesn’t serve as a commercial orchard meant to produce volume - it is strictly for preservation, education, and production. They are thankful for their amazingly supportive community here that is dedicated to supporting local farms.

Thank you Athol Orchards!

Lacey Green

Lacey Green and her husband Ty farm acres of land off Hayden Avenue and are strong supporters of agriculture and educating our community. Not only does she have numerous stories of her travels and experiences, she encourages others to dream and learn each day. Be sure to ask her about Lily, her house-trained goat!
Lacey has a huge heart and has generously donated her time to photograph the event. Thank you Lacey Green Photography!
Thank you to our presenters and attendees for joining the community in learning about agriculture. Be sure to visit during the North Idaho State Fair August 18-27, 2023 and then watch for another Meet a Farmer event next year!
